NU 240 - Assessment & Fundamentals I Assessment and Fundamentals I provides opportunities to develop beginning competencies necessary to meet the needs of individuals throughout the lifespan. Students utilize the nursing process and the Science of Human Care Nursing to learn the concepts of patient needs, safety, communication, teaching/learning, critical thinking, ethical-legal considerations and cultural diversity. The course introduces cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills needed to assist individuals in meeting basic human needs. It introduces fundamentals of nursing through integration of concepts of communication, client assessment, bedside care, and basic nursing skills.
Prerequisite: Sophomore status in nursing. Strongly recommended: BIOL 214 - Anatomy and Physiology I prior to taking NU 240. Corequisite: NU 240L - Assessment and Fundamentals I Lab . Credit(s): 4 When Offered: Fall Only
