DEPARTMENTAL HONORS IN GERMAN
Minimum criteria for Honors in German:
- 3.50 overall Truman GPA
- 3.80 GPA in German courses
- Procedure for applying for Honors in German if the above minimum criteria are met:
a. Letter of application written in German
b. Portfolio of work in the German program
c. Oral interview
- Each applicant should meet with his or her capstone professor or German convener for details. Deadline for application: before midterm of the graduating semester.

Liberal Studies Program Requirements: 31-57 Credits
Missouri Statute Requirement: 1-3 Credits
Bachelor of Arts Requirement: 0-6 Credits
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS:
The German major consists of two (2) parts: Required Support and Major Requirements. Each student must complete both parts. Part I: Required Support: 3-9 Credits
Part II: Major Requirements: 30 Credits
Students select from the following to bring total upper-division credits in German to 30:
NOTE:
No grade of “D” in major courses is accepted toward the German major. A maximum of 15 hours may be brought into the German Major from other institutions, domestic or abroad. In lieu of German 339 (German Culture in English), a course relating to the culture or history of the German-speaking countries taught in another department may be selected with prior approval, but only one course taught in English may count toward the major or minor. Electives to Total: 120 Credits
