Open to all majors, the Education minor program is designed specifically for students interested in pursuing a Master of Arts in Education degree at Truman and students interested in working in the field of education in non-traditional settings such as zoos and museums.
This minor allows you to develop a knowledge base about the field of education in general. You gain insight into how people learn and discover how to effectively share information with others.
While completion of the minor by itself cannot lead directly to initial certification, it includes undergraduate courses required for certification by the Missouri Department of Secondary and Elementary Education.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A 2.00 GPA in minor requirements.
- At least nine hours of the program requirements must be completed at Truman State University.

Program Requirements:
The Education Minor consists of 17 hours of courses. The minor is designed for students interested in pursuing a Masters of Arts in Education degree at Truman as well as for students interested in working in the field of education in nontraditional settings such as zoos and/or museums. The minor includes core undergraduate courses required by the Missouri Department of Secondary and Elementary Education for certification, but does not by itself lead to certification because the state has additional requirements. In addition to the requirements listed above, students choose a total of at least 3 credit hours from the list below. The list contains existing courses that address issues in Education and are designed to match students’ future teaching interests. The courses are grouped according to specific areas of teaching certification. The courses listed under each area are required by the State of Missouri for teacher certification in that area or for admission to graduate education programs. |
