ENG 326 - Diverse American Literature

This course focuses on the literary representation of communities whose lives and experiences are too often overlooked in the American canon of literary arts. It introduces students to a number of critical perspectives in areas such as race studies, (im)migration studies, queer theory, and social justice; and it engages issues such as environmental and institutionalized racism, socioeconomic status, and intersectional identities (e.g. race, class, gender, religion, ability) in an American context. May be repeated under different topics.
